Being in “Awe” Can Reduce Inflammation

Chronic inflammation is dangerous and can lead to some very serious life-threatening conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Perhaps you have been told that improving your diet, getting more sleep and reducing stress will all help combat inflammation.

Research has found that positive emotions such as amusement, compassion, pride and awe have a positive impact on markers of inflammation, while negative emotions have the opposite effect.

Taking this a step further, a study has uncovered that one emotion in particular, awe, has the strongest impact on these markers of inflammation.
